Leeds United assistant manager Gus Poyet has been charged with improper conduct towards match officials following his side's League Cup defeat to Portsmouth last month.
In his post-match comments after Leeds had gone down 3-0 at Fratton Park on August 28th, Poyet claimed referee Andy D'Urso had a personal vendetta against himself and Leeds manager Dennis Wise from their playing days.
The former Uruguayan international, who played for Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea in the Premier League, has been sent off by the official before, as has managerial colleague Wise.
And Poyet claimed it was these disagreements with D'Urso that meant he had failed to give a penalty in favour of his side before the former player launched a scathing attack on the official to the press after the final whistle.
Poyet claimed he "does not want to see D'Urso at a Leeds match again" and that he was too weak to give important penalty decisions.
"When there is something complicatedin the box, he won't give anything at all," he remarked.
"He cannot forget what he did to Dennis and me as players and it has continued into management.
"[It is] personal and very sad. He is always laughing on the pitch but won't give any hard decisions."
Poyet could face a fine or a touchline ban for his comments and has until October 4th to respond to the charge.
